The Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation (ACRI) welcomes the appointment of Robert Moffat to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Rob commences his role with ACRI on 1 July 2020 and will be based in Canberra along with the ACRI team.
Chairman of ACRI and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport & Regional Services John Anderson AO reiterated “Investment in rail research, with strong links to industry, remains vital for the safe, efficient, connected and sustainable future of Australasian rail.
Having undertaken a national recruitment process with fellow Board members, I am looking forward to working with Rob and our rail industry participants to facilitate further independent rail research and analysis that addresses industry nominated issues.”
Rob brings a wealth of experience from his two decades in rail in Australia and joins ACRI having recently supported the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority in Queensland enter into delivery contracts with industry partners.
Mr Anderson added “The fundamental basis of ACRI remains collaboration – across the private and government sector, nationally and also internationally. As Australia and the world emerges from COVID-19, achieving cooperation and avoiding duplication through facilitating coordinated research across entities and jurisdictions will deliver economies of scale greater than the sum of the individual parts.”
Mr Moffat graduated from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and is optimistic about rail innovation in Australasia – “the renaissance of rail creates a catalyst for innovation beyond the rail industry’s natural propensity for continuous improvement. I look forward to working with current and future ACRI participants, the Board, team members and the broader Australasian transport industry to realise the unbounded opportunities for change in rail knowledge and policy settings through world class independent rail research.”
ACRI wishes outgoing CEO Andrew Meier every success in his future endeavours.
