Australasian Centre for Rail Innovation (ACRI) has released the Freight Train Visibility Review Report. The Final Report is now live on the ACRI website which identifies and assesses 30 potential rolling stock, design and/or education controls that may improve rail freight vehicle visibility and driver awareness when interacting with passive level crossings.
This work was undertaken by ACRI and an expert team from SNC-Lavalin. Directly commissioned by the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR), Freight On Rail Group (FORG), Australasian Railway Association (ARA), Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (Australia) (RISSB) and TrackSAFE Foundation.
The project findings have been extensively analysed and several near to medium term trial opportunities and next steps are now being considered.
